It's that time of year again

It is seed planting time again, over the last week Katie and Kevin have been starting to plant the first round of seeds and they have started sprouting.

Also with out freakish warm weather everything is blooming. The lack of water or rain is a serious issue. We are experiencing the driest year on record and there is no snow pack to rely on either. I have a lot of concerns for my garden this year. However my peach tree is blooming and the blooms are beautiful.

A vibrant color.

My grape plants are also sprouting tiny fuzzy buds.

The bulbs in my front planters are about to bloom as well.

These are a little camouflage but are definitely there.

Overall things are growing and blooming and its good to be getting back into it.

Strawberries

We planted strawberries not too long ago and the resulting plants have been surprisingly productive and large.

As you can see Katie has become adept at finding the small red berries and will do what she needs to do to get them. They quickly go into her mouth so there are not many to photograph but we did catch this one.

We usually get a small bowl for her to collect them in.

She will run back and forth putting the ones she has not eaten right away into the bowl.

Katie does love her strawberries. These are small and sweet and are nothing like what you find in a store.

My front planters are doing really good. The roses are doing well and so is the jasmine which should start blooming soon. 

The second planter has grown like crazy and I did not plant or seed anything in it this year. We have alyssum, desert primrose and sweet peas thriving.

Grapes, Blackberries and Strawberries

In addition to the garden I have been working on planting a few other things around the yard as well. Against the back fence I planted two grape plants.

Along the side fence of the back yard I planted two blackberry bushes.

The soil in the backyard was very hard to dig. It took a few days to get the holes dug and I still need to get some sort of edging around them. Katie likes to help water them.

In the front yard I have been working on getting more plants in. I have added another tulip plant and a daffodil  that my Mom gave us.

Between the exiting rosebushes I have planted eleven strawberry plants. You can not see them yet but hopefully they will show up soon.

In the other planter there are another eleven strawberry plants and two bleeding heart plants. You can not see any of these yet either but they are there and soon will be growing.

New flowers

Look at my new flowers I planted today, they add some much needed color to my patio area.
